Nocturnazine Amazing album! For me an unexpected standout is the slower paced yet upbeat “Mr. Xanax”. You might also detect a bit of a Placebo or Vigil (of Washington DC) quality to the vocals. I asked John (aka Arnar) about this song and he answered, “It’s essentially a break-up song about conflicting emotions, the brief moments when you get that dopamine rush you were after...” Also impressed by each unique single cover art. See my full review and promo video at instagram.com/nocturnazine. Favorite track: Mr. Xanax.

Snow 03:42
Speaking of suffering with the men who would steal you I tried to speak to your god She wants nothing to do with you, don’t want to be seen with you So it is uncalled for advice And it snows, it snows on long, hey, it snows out loud Until you go home Say that all you wanted was two strong arms You won’t save | the world but do no harm Say the words you want to hear me say And then you go on your way ‘Cause you got snow You got snow If the girls in those towns to the east don’t respond to you That’s just one fact of life They want nothing to do with your rebellions and cheap perfumes ‘Cause they can see you’re not right

Pesach 05:11
I can never work out, what not to say And I won’t get it right, not today You say you don’t even know who I am An empty plate on the table and a knife in your hand It’s getting close to half past seven On our own black nine eleven And it’s always nine eleven We turn it off, then turn it on, turn it off again You take the papers leave as you planned The door it echoes as now you take your stand You turn and look before you head down the stairs Your key in the lock now shines like one of her hairs That's our shadow passing over, giving shelter but no cover Like I fool myself, you love me more than ever We turn it off, then turn it on, turn it off again There’s that music again, like a nail on the floor So I think I’m walking free, it will trip me up before So now I lie awake and as the notes all decay There's a sudden modulation and the world now fades to grey There’s that music again, like a nail on the floor So I think I’m walking free, it will trip me up before And I can’t run away, And I can’t run away... We turn it off, then turn it on, turn it off again

Read this, the African is a hunted man And now we make our stand, their freedom is a lie We’re just a dark black crust of vanity Bred in the pit of hell, we’re ghosts that haunt their minds So they’re coming for our guns they’re coming for our steel They'll tie us to the wheel Make us beg to be healed Shut down | Shut down | Shut down | Shut down Reject their race, their class, their liberty And that’s how we’ll stay alive, resistance is our shelter We’re still alive and looking for an answer Like everything that moves We want to shape our futures If their fire don’t take us down If they don’t burn us to the ground They’ll force us underground Making sure we all drown Shut down | Shut down | Shut down | Shut down But up above our heads | From high above the clouds Their bombs are raining down, they’ll call it peace in their town Shut down | Shut down | Shut down | Shut down

Anabasis 03:49
Working fingers to the bone My sheets are cold and you are gone this morning This morning we are dying And I’m singing till my throat is raw The boats are out and no one’s shown you’re coming The threnody is ending We’re misanthropes in our harems We piss and choke in our gardens This city eats its youngest Like the living strip their playthings We inhabitants of shallows We consumers of the hollows And our rivers float our levees in the darkness of this melee We are information blind We’re inured to all our violence We’re misanthropes in our harems We piss and choke in our gardens In the offices of progress Besides all the dead and dying Are new comforters of Job Blest to be strongest with the weakest We’re new comforters of Job Blest with all endings and beginnings We new comforters of Job Wrest our survival from the fittest We’re misanthropes in our harems We piss and choke in our gardens

Mr. Xanax 04:33
And your friends Have all upped and gone Everyone got bored now And I'm staring at the sky You know what it's worth to meet a deadline And I've seen all I wanted and more than that If I go to your bed now And you're taking apart and the time's not right Everyone's an expert Hey You can have my time You paint colours bright You paint colours so real they're invading my mind Heart on the floor with my brain in a whirl And the world's getting more and more unkind Holding the line You’re holding the line And your friends They're the ones to blame Every one a flat line And I feel like I know that the world ain't right But hey what would you know now?

Now I face you I wanna give you my life The winds embrace you like black sands in the night The seas embrace you I can't remember your name and fingers sink into the memories of the thick sublime The light is fading from me I may have had my day There's nothing left above me but your sodden rocks and clay A night is all it took me To know that you would stay The daylight takes you from me, this is This is why I say Come on and let me strip you down Right down to the milk and honey. Come on Though you may not love me Nothing you can do is wrong The summer came through And touched the black of my glove I sat beside you while you While you all made love The flames above you Shine like cathedral spires Arise and show you all where Where the ice melts are

We'll not all be missed Not a little bit Of all the trucks and ships We like to reminisce about those times we survived Sometimes I sleep all night Like a Jesuit (come to save you) The dust inside of me, is just a rosary its sunlight under black shrouds We step on and on into the crowds Go on, go on, fill your lungs with other worlds I'm just a little bit of a little bit When the crisis hits Washing over like a blanket smothers a child You cover up the lips to cover up our sins And surrender to the mist Like a fresh abyss dissolves in fear of the night The end times are with us now These end times are with me now The end times are with us now These end times are with us now

We all want revolutions But that cars just stuck in the parking bay So send me your delusions, masses They're just - one small glitch in a perfect day They dreamt of making us all beg for our food And she says - Gimme one more, gimme one more You're all monkeys drunk on national moods So I'm taking all the magic away Gimme one more, gimme one more Yeh, gimme one small body for the keys of time Gimme one more, gimme one more, gimme more What's one more if you ask to be mine These walls are our solutions They stop the world from fading away Into a great confusion where anyone can stake a claim We dream of making you all scream for a ride And take you faster than you've ever been in your lives We can't prepare you for the day you arrive That's when we take your papers away Gimme one more, gimme one more Yeh, gimme one small body for the keys of time Gimme one more, gimme one more, gimme more What's one more if you ask to be mine This way, this way to endanger your lives These four walls survive This way, this way to endanger your lives These four walls survive Gimme one more, gimme one more Yeh, gimme one small body for the keys of time Gimme one more, gimme one more, gimme more What's one more if you ask to be mine

I take the coffee from the side Sit down and, maybe, take your time The pines give way to the scent of heather We sing the songs we know in the cold damp weather We stop the car by the side of the road And take the time to kiss, maybe maybe reminiscence And here on in it’s just one long drift This road is marked with turnings missed And I feel like a traveller lost in time Just stick to paths you know what you know is what you know I’m a child alone in Columbine These decisions made, they’re always made too late for today I know eventually the light will fade away This moonlight strips the towns to one The city forms the shape of-an-atom-bomb And you and I know it won’t get much better So we sing the songs we know in the cold damp weather You and I know if won’t get much better than this So take the time to kiss watch the shows we missed Here on in it’s all just one long drift In the stench of the damp creeping under the autumn mist And I feel like a traveller lost in time Just stick to paths you know what you know is what you know I’m a child alone in Columbine These decisions made, they’re always made too late for today I know eventually the light will fade away They take, take, take take, take, take, take, take away And today you are low Switch off the headlights Step onto the white line Turn off the night lights Step over the white line
